ANALYSIS OF READING EXERCISE QUESTIONS IN AN ENGLISH TEXTBOOK FOR YEAR X SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS BASED ON BLOOM’S

چکیده

This research identifies the distribution of reading exercise questions based on cognitive domains in Revised Bloom's Taxonomy. It also attempts to change from Lower-order Thinking Skills (LOTS) items into Higher-order (HOTS) items. Content analysis was used as methodology. The subject study English textbook ‘Bahasa Inggris SMA/MA/SMK/MAK’ for year X high school students published by Ministry Education and Culture. Documentation employed collect data. data were analyzed using an interactive mood technique. Results revealed that lower-order thinking skills distributed within 183 items, while higher-order 63 Specifically, lower order follows: Remembering skill with 100 questions, or 41%, understanding 31 13%, applying 52 21%. Meanwhile, higher comprised analyzing 38 15%, evaluating 13 creating 12 5%. To sum up, showed (25%) significantly than (75%).
